Photo sizes, pixels and DPI explained
Turn millimeters into pixels and print ID photos at the intended size.
Physical size and pixels measure different things
Millimeters describe the size on paper. Pixels describe the digital image grid. At 300 DPI, a 30 × 40 mm photo needs round(30 ÷ 25.4 × 300) × round(40 ÷ 25.4 × 300), or 354 × 472 pixels. Rounding each dimension can produce a tiny physical-size difference.
Crop first, then resize
A portrait must match the target aspect ratio before resizing. Cropping trims the image without stretching a face. Higher DPI creates more pixels but cannot restore detail that is absent in the original. Use a sharp original with adequate resolution.
Print at actual size
Nexurivo writes print-resolution metadata to photo JPEGs and PNGs. Some print apps ignore it, so also set the intended paper dimensions and disable Fit to page. Print at 100% / Actual Size. A4 sheets use a 5 mm margin and 3 mm spacing; confirm your printer can print inside those margins.
Passport sizing is only one requirement
A dimension preset does not validate lighting, expression, background, head placement or acceptance. Printed-photo requirements can differ from online submission rules. Always review the relevant government instructions.
