How to Prepare a Signature for Online Applications
Crop, resize and compress a signature while protecting fine ink strokes and following the application's actual requirements.

Capture a signature you are authorized to use
Begin with your own signature or one you have permission to process. Follow the destination's capture instructions, including any specified ink and background rules; there is no universal specification that applies to every application. Use even lighting and a focused capture. Shadows, paper texture and camera blur make it harder to separate ink from the background. Keep the unedited source in case a later application requires a different crop or larger dimensions.
Trim empty space without clipping ink
Open Signature Resizer and inspect the entire signature before trimming. Leave room for the ends of letters, dots, underlines and faint strokes. Automatic or aggressive trimming can mistake pale ink for background, especially near a shadow. A tight crop may look larger in the preview while actually removing identifying marks. Check all four edges at a useful zoom level. If the source is badly lit, a cleaner capture can be safer than stronger threshold or contrast settings.
Fit into the required rectangle
Enter the pixel dimensions from the application. A 300 × 80 pixel rectangle is an example, not an official signature rule. Fit preserves the shape inside the rectangle and can add padding; stretching the ink changes its proportions. If the destination requires a particular background or border treatment, inspect those details after resizing. The photo and signature fields in a combined application can have different requirements, so do not reuse the photo's dimensions for both assets.
Choose format and compression carefully
PNG is useful for sharp edges and can retain transparency, but the application must accept it. JPEG fills transparent areas with a solid background and may put artifacts around thin lines when heavily compressed. Optional black-and-white processing can simplify a noisy image, but can also erase light strokes. Compare that result with the source before saving. A fixed-dimension signature output should report an unmet byte limit rather than silently shrinking the required pixel rectangle.
Review the actual download
Check continuous strokes, small dots, the background and the final width, height and file size. View the signature at its intended display size as well as zoomed in. Select the downloaded result when submitting, and retain a clearly named original.
